I
was born and raised in Moscow, Russia, and belong to the postwar
generation. I am a food chemist and food technologist by education.
My love for books and theatre came from my memories of the unforgettable
libraries, theatres and radio programs from my childhood. My collection
of character dolls shows my gratitude for that golden time of
my childhood.
Doll- and costume-making are my hobbies. From my early years
I watched my mother made dresses for me and for my dolls. My love
of sewing came from her. In Moscow I took classes of fashion design,
and I use that knowledge for my hobby.
I have been creating the collection of the dolls characters
over many years. Each character starts with long process of study
about the character that stands behind the doll, and his or her
historical time. I make all of dolls and their costumes myself.
My collection consists of character dolls and portrait dolls,
made of porcelain, and ranging from 18 to 25 inches tall. A portrait
doll is a doll made to look like the portrait of a real person.
For example: a bridal doll made from a bridal portrait.
